If left untreated, gum disease—also called periodontal disease—can
cause you to lose bone in your jaw and eventually lose teeth. Gum disease
can also affect your entire health—research is starting to show
that it may be linked to problems such as diabetes, heart disease and
stroke.
We diagnose and treat gum disease in our office. We may suggest the
use of Arestin, a local antibiotic that has been shown to be very effective
in halting the progression of periodontal disease.
